Using Backup without an iDisk
bergant — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 19:16
I don't have an iDisk or a Mac. I have an iPhone and I use desktop and laptop Windows XP computers. I'm not clear on how I can back up my data (which I'd like to do before upgrading to your newest Timelogger).
I'm also unfamiliar with WebDAV. Can someone help?
Thanks!

Second That
jasona — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 21:27I am wondering the same thing about the backup abilities. A local option would be preferred. Thank you!

costmo (not verified) — Sun, 09/21/2008 - 22:43Hello,
WebDAV is a very common feature, even for non-Mac users.
We have been having ongoing discussions about an option for local (to the Desktop) backups, and we plan to have one out in the future. The main challenge has been in the area of interface design. This is not a trivial interface task for non-technical users unless a full desktop client is created (and that's not something we have planned). We are confident that we'll come up with something that's relatively simple to use, but for now, WebDAV (or MobileMe for Mac users) is the only method that is used.
In the next revision, which should hit the App Store in a little over a week, we will be rolling out the ability to email CSV files to yourself. This isn't a true backup option since their's no way to recover data in the application from that file, but it will at least give you a copy of the data in a usable format.
We're not going to make any promises, but our current plans are to have an option to backup to the user's desktop by the end of the year.
Thanks.
